Ack. Having major issues with my internet of late. And I
missed last week’s episode due to Thanksgiving festivities.I may even continue to miss it until I
get my internet/cable stuff fixed. That’s what sucks about owning a
blog based on a TV show when you live alone. You can only count on yourself
to keep the TV coming.

For some reason I find that I am a big supporter of Chuck
and Blair. Seeing his sweet side was way surprising, and sure he might still
be somewhat of a rapist but what if it's because he didn't find that one
special girl yet?! I'm excited to see where that goes.
Vanessa, Dan and Serena win this week's award for annoyingly predictable
storyline. I hate V. The way she talks is excruciating, like she has to stop
every few syllables to ponder what just left her mouth. She keeps ruining for
me the awesomeness that is D and S. So in that area I was not very pleased
when the show ended.
I enjoyed Jenny and Nate together. I hope they turn into an item, as they did
in the books. Because I find TV J far more fun than book J.
But I want Rufus and Lily to get it together, not Rufus and his
wife! Ugh, R and L are so well matched. They're adorable together, and
are clearly in love. Damn you, Little J, for bringing Mom home.
As for next week's preview, I can't really figure out why Serena is mad about
Chuck and Blair. I kind of get it...but not really. We'll see.

New layout, obviously. I added a new feature, some little
falsely taped up versions of my favorite GG related photos. You can
click each one for a bigger version. I'm trying to think of more things to
fill the empty spaces with, so bear with me. I'm thinking of adding my
favorite songs from the show, too. Can't wait for tomorrow - Wednesday!

I watched Penn in John Tucker Must Die tonight. He
played it like Dan, which is fine by me. He's pretty much the best character
of all time.
I added some more icons and wallpaper, and I'm working on more content. It's
all GG fun stuff. More later.

The ending of tonight's episode made the entire thing
perfect. One thing I enjoy about the TV show versus the books is the
involvment of the parents. They become real people in this episode, all of
them, and it's a mixture of normalcy and idiocy. There was a lot of
progression with everyone in this episode, so the tagline held true.
I felt at first like they were rushing the whole Dan and Serena sex thing
(and who else wanted to punch Vanessa?) but when they decided not to I was
happy.
I loved Nate's storyline. When he stood up to his father and basically sent
the cops after him I was super happy. But apparently Mr. Archibald is very
messed up, and he deserved it. His wife is ridiculously oblivious (and young
looking), and I think maybe she should have gotten the punch instead of Nate.
Maybe it would have knocked some sense into her.
My favorite part of this episode included my two favorite characters, Blair
and Chuck. I loved the song playing when Blair was at the burlesque club, and
the fact they they ended up doing naughty things in the car ride home? Whoa!
Didn't see that one coming. Judging by next week's preview, Blair is going to
regret that pretty fast, but I love Chuck's evil side so much that I can't
pretend I wasn't gleeful at the prospect of seeing it some more.
But little J, why did you have to go fetch Mom? You're going to wreck things
between Rufus and Lily. Sigh..
Oh, glorious Wednesdays. The one night out of the week
when I feel okay about cancelling plans or avoiding social interaction so I
can stay home and watch GG with some wine and a cozy blanket. Since
I need something to fill this space up, I figured I should just speak ad
nauseum about the show and the books, so if you'll indulge me, read on.
I was introduced to Gossip Girl one day while trolling Barnes and
Noble for something new, different and interesting. At this point, another
series I read, Fearless was still in publication, so I was in the
young adult section. The first GG book caught my eye and I picked it
up. The release was literally 2 days before that, so I figured I'd give it a
shot and bought it. When at home, I cracked it open and read it straight
through. The books are trashy teen literature, that much is true, but every
girl has a side that loves stuff like that, including me. So, I read the
books for about a year and a half. I've missed 4 installments, but plan on
catching up soon.
When I heard that GG was being made into a TV show, I'm pretty sure I
rolled my eyes, because at that point I had considered writing off Gossip
Girl altogether and focusing on more adult literature. But when the show
aired I just happened to be sitting in my apartment, bored and lonely, and
decided to give it a whirl since it came on after America's Next Top Model.
Augh! Such a good show. In many ways, it's terrible: unrealistic, over the
top, and indulgent as hell. But, just like the books, there's some element
about these characters that draws me in.
So I've been hooked on the show for 6 weeks now and I don't know anyone else
who watches it. I'm always in the mood to talk about it right when it's over
but posting babbles about it on Myspace or Facebook is pretty pointless as I
would be the only person reading them. I thought up Van Der Blog (obviously,
a variation on Serena's last name), and now I have my outlet.
Some background info: I love Serena on the TV show but not the books. I love
Dan on the TV show but not the books. I love Blair above all others. I think
TV Jenny is much more enjoyable (I wouldn't think about reading her spin off
novels). And even though they are vastly different, I find both Vanessas to
be extraordinarily annoying and both Nates big moody slackers. Chuck Bass,
however, came to life much more thoroughly than any of the other characters,
and despite being stereotypical and obviously evil, I love him and his stupid
scarf.
My guess about tonight's episode is that I'm going to be disappointed.
Whenever they say "things will never be the same" it usually means
a relationship ends or someone dies, and I'm thinking it's too early for
someone to die. The only relationship is Dan and Serena's (I mean I guess
Blair and Nate are together, but that hasn't been expressed very well) and
since I adore them together, having it end would be really annoying,
especially since they hem hawed about it until 2 weeks ago. More blog after
tonight's episode airs...
